The secretary general of the Socialist Federation of Ibiza (FSE-PSOE), Vicent Roselló, has valued very positively the result of the 41st Congress of the Socialist Party, held this weekend in Seville, and in which the Ibizan deputy Milena Herrera has been appointed member of the Federal Committee. Vicent Roselló, who headed the delegation of the FSE-PSOE, congratulated Milena Herrera for joining the highest body of the party between congresses, noting that“her work and ability is a source of pride for the socialists of Ibiza“. On the other hand, she explained that the PSOE Congress has allowed to give a “boost to the ideological foundations of the party, with the leadership of the secretary general and president of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sánchez”. “We have been strengthened to face the current challenges of the country, with commitments that address issues that directly affect territories such as islands,” he said. The paper of the 41st Congress of the PSOE has incorporated“essential elements for us, such as the recognition of insularity and overpopulation within the system of regional funding,” explained Roselló. Regarding the housing challenge, Roselló has underlined the political commitments assumed by the PSOE during the Congress. “The Party has agreed on measures such as, for example, that not only public VPOs will be considered official protection indefinitely, but also private ones. This was already contemplated in the Balearic Housing Law, but now it has been incorporated into the state framework,” he said. Likewise, Roselló highlighted the incorporation to the PSOE’s report of the commitment to promote a specific study on the saturation situation of the housing market in the territories affected by the increase in prices, such as the Balearic Islands. In the social field, the Secretary General of the FSE-PSOE has highlighted the progress in occupational health and safety, especially with regard to workers such as the Kellys, who have been included in the paper. Finally, the secretary general of the FSE-PSOE wanted to highlight the party’s commitment to the fight against climate change, stressing the need to take measures to mitigate its effects. “The PSOE Congress has agreed to incorporate in its paper key measures, such as the prohibition of building in flood zones, a fundamental aspect that contrasts with the recent approval of the decree law of the Balearic Government that allows to legalize constructions made without a license in these spaces “. The PSOE believes that “the safety and protection of people against the risks of climate change must be above all else,” remarked Vicent Roselló.
