The skipper of a skiff that arrived at Formentera last Saturday night has been arrested for the alleged sexual assault of a minor who was traveling on board. The boat, which was carrying 17 people of North African origin, was intercepted in the area of Can Marroig at 22:45 hours, in a joint operation of the Civil Guard and the Local Police of Formentera. After her arrival, the young woman, who was the only minor among the occupants, was assisted by the Social Services on the island. Hours later, she filed a complaint at the Guardia Civil post in Formentera, where she recounted the alleged facts. According to her statement, none of the occupants intervened to prevent the aggression.
Arrest and transfer to Ibiza
The skipper of the skiff was transferred together with the rest of the passengers to Ibiza, where he was arrested not only for irregular immigration, but also for the alleged rape. For its part, the Benemérita, in charge of the investigation, is taking steps to clarify the facts and determine whether there was any degree of complicity or inaction on the part of the other occupants of the boat.
