The president of the Govern, Marga Prohens, announced Tuesday in Parliament the withdrawal of the draft budget for 2025 in the absence of support to approve it after breaking off negotiations with Vox.
The leader of the PP has assured that“the conditions do not exist at this time to negotiate and approve the budgets” after Vox conditioned its support to Catalan ceasing to be a vehicular language in education, a demand that exceeds the “red lines” that Prohens is willing to accept. The extension of this year’s budget to next year has been confirmed in the same plenary session in which the PP and the left have agreed to postpone for a future session the repeal of the Law of Democratic Memory, an initiative of Vox that until now supported the Popular Party. On the other hand, the PP Government has obtained the support of the left to ratify a decree law that will correct the amendments of Vox to the Administrative Simplification Law that modified essential aspects of the linguistic policy, amendments that were approved two weeks ago due to an error in the vote of the popular group.
