The Local Police of Sant Josep has closed 2024 with a balance that highlights the complexity and diversity of problems faced by the municipality: 33,422 incidents attended in a year marked by an increase in neighborhood conflicts, environmental actions and cases of gender violence. Mayor Vicent Roig, together with the head of the force, José Antonio Granados, presented the results at a press conference, underlining the importance of the increase in staffing implemented last year, which has reduced the pressure on the agents. In addition, he announced the incorporation of 12 new personnel in 2025, a fundamental step to improve the operational capacity in a town that continues to grow.
Trend-setting incidents
Among the main concerns of neighbors, traffic-related problems stand out, with 3,474 calls recorded for improper parking (1,560), accidents (559) and alcohol (89) and drug (161) controls. On the other hand, neighborhood conflicts also accounted for a large part of the attention, with 918 incidents, of which noise in tourist dwellings (216) and illegal rentals (204) were the most recurrent cases.

In the area of public safety, 2,178 incidents were recorded, including 662 criminal offenses and 247 fights, reflecting the intense activity of the corps in the management of altercations. In addition, the municipality continues to fight against illegal camping and noise problems, which totaled more than 1,300 interventions.
Gender violence and settlements
In a more sensitive area, the 51 incidences related to gender and domestic violence highlight the need to continue working to protect victims. Regarding illegal settlements, Granados detailed the case of Can Burgos, a shanty town that once housed 150 substandard housing units and more than 200 places to sleep in high season, and which has now been reduced to about fifteen occupants.
