The arrival of businessman Víctor de Aldama at the Supreme Court, to testify as a defendant in the “Koldo case”, was marked by an unusual scene: the businessman arrived escorted by Daniel Esteve, leader of Desokupa. Esteve, known for his controversial speech and for leading a company dedicated to the eviction of squatters, had previously described De Aldama as a “delinquent”, but had also offered him his services.
Hours before escorting Aldama, Esteve published a video on X, assuring that “today is a great day” and that there would be “surprises” on the businessman’s arrival at the Supreme Court in Madrid. In the same message, he hinted at his conviction that the case against former Transport Minister José Luis Ábalos would take a new turn after the appearance.
This morning, Aldama arrived at the courthouse in a large black car with a black folder under his arm. It was Esteve who opened the door of the vehicle and accompanied him to the side entrance of the building.
The motives? In principle, Esteve had already publicly offered his services to Aldama, according to a video he posted on his social networks a few days ago. In that recording, Esteve said the following about the businessman: “Víctor, I don’t know you, you are a criminal, that’s your problem, but if you want to get to the trial alive, I offer you protection with my team: armored cars, vests, whatever you need…. We can guarantee that you and your family will make it to the trial alive. We offer you security for everything. It will cost you a lot of money, because you have money, but if you need security you only have to ask for it”.
On the other hand, Esteve’s political leanings are well known: he maintains an ideological crusade against the PSOE government and probably sees the “Koldo case” as an opportunity to delegitimize it. In addition, Esteve has served in the past as a bodyguard for celebrities, so he is comfortable in the role of security escort.
