The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has presented its forecast for winter 2024-2025 in Ibiza, highlighting above average temperatures and rainfall at normal levels for this season. With the season officially starting on December 21, the predictions indicate that this winter will be marked by warm and stable weather, although with occasional episodes of rain and strong winds. The report details that minimum temperatures will not drop below 7 degrees Celsius in most locations, while maximum temperatures will hover around 15 degrees Celsius during the day. This thermal behavior is in line with the trends observed in recent years, where the island has experienced milder winters. According to the delegate of the AEMET in the Balearic Islands, MĀŖ JosĆ© Guerrero, this forecast reinforces the idea of an atypical winter, but without ruling out some cold days characteristic of the season.
The AEMET weather forecast for winter 2025 in Ibiza
The weather forecast includes key data on precipitation and extreme events. The island is expected to receive around 100 liters per square meter of rainfall, in line with the historical winter average.
The anticyclonic situations will be dominant, which will generate clear days, although interspersed with cold fronts that will bring rain and strong winds. Experts point out that Sant Joan de Labritja, with its higher altitudes, could record colder episodes and with a greater possibility of snow. The previous autumn has left interesting figures that reinforce these projections. According to the balance of the AEMET, the season was “very warm” in Ibiza, with average temperatures of 20.1 degrees and tropical nights that increased by 24% compared to the usual. This context allows forecasting that the winter will maintain a warm trend, although with some cold peaks.
Christmas weather: what to expect?
Ahead of the Christmas holidays, the AEMET forecasts days with pleasant temperatures for the season. During the last week of December, thermometers will range between 9 and 14 degrees, with mostly clear skies and some occasional showers. This weather pattern will allow outdoor activities to be enjoyed, although it will be necessary to pay attention to windy spells that could make some days difficult. The probability of snow during the Christmas season is low, but it is not ruled out that the highest areas of Sant Joan may receive some light snowfall if temperatures drop more than expected. Despite this, Ibiza is preparing for a predominantly warm winter.
