The planned strike in health transport in the Balearic Islands for this Friday, December 20, with scheduled stoppages between 10 am and 12 noon and between 5 pm and 7 pm, has been called off after an agreement was reached on Thursday at the Court of Arbitration and Mediation of the Balearic Islands (Tamib). The decision comes after a week of intense meetings between the Works Committee of Gestión Sanitaria y Asistencial de Baleares (Gsaib), a public company of the Government, the Health Service of the Balearic Islands (IbSalut) and union representatives.
Bartolomé Nadal, head of CCOO Health Transport in the Balearic Islands, explained that the agreement includes the main demands of the workers, such as the resolution of outstanding payments and the development of a protocol for the transfer and transfer of patients, aimed at improving the service and working conditions.
Claims and agreements reached
According to the press release from the Conselleria de Salud, the main points of the agreement include:
- Salary regularization: Scheduled transportation personnel will see salary regularization completed during the first months of 2025, adjusting to concepts such as the CPI and excess working hours.
- Transfer protocols: A protocol will be implemented to ensure a better transfer of patients to health centers, optimizing the quality of service and working conditions.
- Staff classification: It has been agreed to open a round table with the participation of IbSalut and Civil Service to address the discrepancies on the professional classification of Gsaib staff. The first working session took place this Thursday and will continue in the first quarter of 2025.
A new period of dialogue
The Govern has stressed that the cancellation of the strike opens a “period of dialogue” between the parties, which seeks to reach more agreements for the benefit of health transport workers. According to Nadal, “this is a first step to meet the demands of the sector and improve both the service and working conditions”. The partial stoppages, initially scheduled between 10:00 and 12:00 hours and 17:00 and 19:00 hours this Friday, are thus cancelled.
