Ibiza will be represented in the Dakar 2025 with three outstanding drivers: Toni Vingutwho this year changes his role to participate as co-driver of Gerard Farrés in the Side by Side category, and the couple formed by Matías Rodríguez and Sandra Guasch, who compete for the second consecutive year with a classic Lada.
The race route will start in the city of Bisha and finish in Shubaytah, in the Empty Quarter region, an extensive dune area in the south of Saudi Arabia. The Dakar 2025 will cover a total of almost 8,000 kilometers, of which 5,000 will be timed, testing the endurance and skills of the competitors.
Toni Vingut: a new stage as co-driver
After suffering a serious injury in the previous edition, Toni Vingut returns to the Dakar in a new role as co-driver of the experienced Gerard Farrés in the Side by Side category. With his change of discipline, Vingut is optimistic and enthusiastic about this new challenge: “I’ve always been attracted to the Side by Side and I really like the idea of sharing this adventure with a teammate. I admire Gerard a lot and I think this will be a great opportunity to learn and better understand this modality”, said the Ibizan driver. He also highlighted that his previous experience as a quad rider and navigator will allow him to bring value to the duo: “Both Gerard and I have raced and navigated before, which gives us a special connection for this kind of races.”
Matias Rodriguez and Sandra Guasch, going for their second Dakar
For their part, Matías Rodríguez and Sandra Guasch face their second consecutive participation in the Dakar with a classic Lada vehicle. This year, they arrive with higher expectations and the goal of surpassing their previous performance: “We have a little more pressure than last year, because we not only want to finish the Dakar, but aspire to something more”, said Guasch. Rodriguez also expressed his pride in sharing the assistance team with Vingut: “I’ve admired Toni ever since I met him, and now, after having competed in the Dakar, I admire him even more. It’s an honor to be part of the same team.”
