In 2025, the new contribution rates for the self-employed will come into force, ranging from 200 euros per month for those who declare a minimum income of 670 euros to 590 euros for those with an income of more than 6,000 euros per month.
These quotas correspond to the 15 tranches established in the agreement on the reform of the Special Regime for Self-Employed Workers (RETA) reached in 2022. The agreement, designed to implement a system of contributions based on real income in 2032, establishes a progressive reduction of the lowest quotas and a gradual increase of the highest ones during the transitional period. For example, the contribution for the lowest bracket has gone from ā¬230 in 2023 to ā¬200 in 2025, while the highest has increased from ā¬500 to ā¬590 over the same period.
Economic impact for the self-employed
According to the UPTA organization, more than one million self-employed will benefit this year with monthly savings of between 20 and 60 euros compared to the old system. However, those who declare income above 2,760 euros per month will face increases in their quotas.
Regularization of quotas and future adjustments
The Social Security continues with the annual regularization of contributions, crossing data on net income with the contributions paid. Differences in favor of the self-employed may be refunded before April 30, 2025, or maintained to improve future benefits. In addition, in 2025 the Government and the self-employed associations will meet again to define the contribution tables for the next three years, moving towards the definitive implementation of the system based on real income in 2032.
