The Local Police of Sant Antoni de Portmany has proceeded to the arrest of a man of foreign origin for being the author of an alleged crime of false documentation.
The agents detected that the permit shown by the citizen to identify himself, after being reported for improper parking, had irregularities and did not comply with the legal requirements for authenticity.
The document lacked the security measures characteristic of genuine documents and other essential elements present in the original legitimate document, such as watermarks, absence of micro-writing or security features that should be present in an official document.
During the year 2024, the agents of the Sant Antoni police force detected a considerable increase in this type of crime, investigating a total of 23 people for this crime over the course of the past year.
Due to this increase, the Consistory promoted a specific training last year to detect false documents in driving licenses. This training was included in the Police Training Plan 2024, which is developed every year in the Local Police of Sant Antoni de Portmany, which was also attended by local police officers from other bodies of the island of Ibiza.
