The Movistar Arena in Madrid was the venue for the long awaited presentation of the Ibiza Sports Destination 2025an initiative led by the Consell de Ibiza that seeks to consolidate the island as an international benchmark in sports tourism. The event has brought together leading sports figures, local authorities and enthusiasts of athletics, cycling and regattas, who have celebrated the eight events of tourist interest that mark the sports calendar of the island for this year.
Renowned players and competitions
During the event, the competitions that are part of this initiative were highlighted: the 10K Ibiza-Playa d’en Bossa, the Ibiza Half Marathon, the Santa Eulària Ibiza Marathon, the Ruta de la Sal Rumbo Ibiza, the Vuelta a Ibiza MTB SIROKO by Shimano, the Vuelta a Ibiza Cicloturista Campagnolo, the Ibiza Trail Marathon Festival and the Tres Días de Trail Ibiza. Figures such as Laura Luengo, ambassador of the 10K Ibiza-Playa d’en Bossa, and Alberto Contador, cycling reference and ambassador of the Vuelta Ibiza MTB SIROKO by Shimano, have shared their enthusiasm for participating in the events, highlighting both the organizational quality and the spectacular Ibizan landscapes. “It is a luxury to be able to participate on an island that offers such an exceptional setting for sport and nature,” said Contador. For her part, Nuria Picas, ambassador of the Tres Días Trail Ibiza, emphasized the uniqueness of running in Dalt Vila, declared a World Heritage Site: “An experience that any lover of sport should live at least once”.

During the closing ceremony, Vicent Marí, president of the Consell de Ibiza, stressed the role of sport as a strategic axis for the deseasonalization of tourism. “We want to show that Ibiza is much more than sun and beach: it is culture, gastronomy, history and nature, an ideal destination to live unique experiences at any time of the year,” said Marí. In addition, the island’s commitment to sustainability has been highlighted, promoting events that respect the natural environment and encourage responsible tourism.

With this presentation, Ibiza Sports Destination 2025 consolidates itself as a fundamental pillar in the island’s tourism strategy, attracting not only elite athletes, but also fans and visitors looking to combine sport and tourism in an incomparable environment.
