The City Council of Sant Josepthrough the Department of Social Action, Family and Equality, has presented on Monday January 27 a new edition of the solidarity event Sant Josep Against Cancer. This initiative, which has been carried out since 2018, commemorates the International Day Against Cancer, celebrated every February 4, with the slogan “Avui som més forts”. The event will take place over a week, from February 3 to 9, with activities at different points of the municipality, aimed at promoting solidarity, prevention and support for those affected.
Solidarity and unity in the fight against cancer
During the presentation, the councilor for Social Action, Family and Equality, Marilina Serra, highlighted the spirit of unity that drives this event. “Today we come together with one voice and one purpose: to demonstrate our strength, unity and determination to fight cancer. Together, stronger than ever, we face the challenges with hope and courage,” she said. The event will have the collaboration of organizations such as the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC), the Pitiusa Association of Aid to Affected by Cancer (APAAC), the Elena Torres Association, ASPANOB, IFCC and other local entities. These associations play a key role in raising awareness, research and support for those affected.
A program full of activities
The calendar includes sports activities, educational workshops, lectures and cultural events for all ages. Among the most outstanding events, on Monday, February 3 there will be a zumba and relaxation class at IES Algarb, while on Friday 7 there will be a functional circuit and pilates and yoga sessions in different facilities of the municipality. On Sunday 9, in Caló de s’Oli, there will be a day with workshops, live music and information tables of all participating associations. The program aims to create a space for support and awareness, as Serra pointed out: “Each activity is designed to strengthen our ties, because we know that, united, we are unstoppable”.
Open and free participation
All of the event’s activities are free and open to the public, although some require prior reservation. Those interested can find contact details in the official program of the event. The Sant Josep City Council is calling on citizens to participate and collaborate with the associations, showing that together we can make progress in the fight against cancer. “It is essential that we continue to generate collective awareness and offer support to those who need it, because no one should face this fight alone,” concluded the councilor.
