The First Section of the Provincial Court of the Balearic Islands will hold this Wednesday at 13:30 hours the preliminary hearing of the trial against a woman accused of misappropriation, after allegedly having kept more than 300,000 euros for the sale of an apartment in Ibiza that was never built. The Public Prosecutor’s Office requests a sentence of four years in prison and the payment of a compensation of 317,000 euros, amount to be paid by the company of which the accused was the proxy. According to the prosecution, the facts date back to October 2017, when the woman signed a contract with the victim for the sale of a home in a real estate development that was to be built on a plot of land in Ibiza. The buyer initially paid €11,000 as a reservation, and subsequently transferred €306,000 to complete the transaction. However, according to the prosecutor’s brief, the accused diverted the money to a personal account, without any work or real estate project being executed. In this way, the prosecution argues that the woman appropriated the transferred amount instead of allocating it to the construction of the promised house. It is expected that in the preliminary hearing this Wednesday the procedural issues will be defined before the trial, where the defense of the accused will be able to present its strategy before the Provincial Court of the Balearic Islands.
