The PSOE of Ibiza has launched an information campaign to denounce the “exorbitant” rents suffered by the island, something it attributes to the “refusal of the PP” to declare it as a stressed area.
The secretary general of the Socialist Federation of Ibiza (FSE-PSOE), Vicent Roselló, has assured this Saturday that the regulation of prices would allow to pay between 30% and 50% less for an apartment, while providing tax incentives for small owners, the party has reported in a statement. The campaign, entitled ‘What it costs to rent on the island of Ibiza with the PP‘, is aimed at all citizens and will seek to show that the decision not to implement the new housing law “directly harms” working families, young people and all people who spend a “disproportionate part” of their income on housing. As an example, they have pointed out that with the regulation, a two-bedroom apartment in the Marina neighborhood, in Ibiza town, would go from 1,500 to 860 euros per month, and in Avenida Vuit d’Agost, which is currently rented for 1,500 euros per month, would cost 1,088 euros. They have also indicated that in Santa Eulària, a one-bedroom apartment in the neighborhood of Siesta, would drop from 1,600 euros to 903 euros, and that in the municipality of Sant Josep, a one-bedroom apartment in the area of Sant Jordiwould go from 1,500 to 848 euros. Meanwhile, in Sant Antoni, a one-bedroom apartment in Calle del Mar would go from 1,300 to 724 euros, they added. Finally, in the municipality of Sant Joan, a one-bedroom apartment in the Portinatx area would go from 1,450 to 945 euros, according to the socialists, among other examples. For the PSOE, the PP’s refusal to declare Ibiza a stressed area is deeply “irresponsible” and adds to the “inability” of the Consell and the municipalities to “control illegal tourist rentals”.
