The Consell de Formenterathrough the Department of Sports, has announced the celebration of the XI edition of the Walk and Run for Women, a sports and solidarity event that will take place on Sunday, March 9.
In collaboration with the Spanish Association Against Cancer of Formentera (AECC) and Espacio Mujeres, the race will again bring together hundreds of participants in a day of sport and social awareness.
A route of 8 kilometers starting and finishing in Sant Francesc.
The race, which last year was attended by about 350 people, will start at 10:00 am from the Plaza de la Constitución in Sant Francesc. Both the walk and the race will share a single 8-kilometer route, with destination in Can Marroig and return to the starting point.
Registration is now open and can be made at the Polideportivo Antoni Blanc, at the AECC information table in the Plaza de la Constitución or on the day of the event, one hour before the start of the race.
The registration fee is 10 euros, and the proceeds will go entirely to the AECC Formentera, in order to support their programs of prevention, awareness and research against cancer.
Solidarity Paella to close the day
At the end of the walk and the race, attendees can enjoy a solidarity paella organized by the AECC in the tent in the parking lot of Sa Senieta. The meal will have the collaboration of the Gastronomic Association Es Forn, whose cooks will prepare a popular paella with a price of 15 euros per person.
The Walk and Run for Women has become an emblematic event in Formentera, promoting healthy lifestyle habits and community involvement in the fight against cancer. With this new edition, the island reaffirms its commitment to solidarity and sport as tools to raise awareness and support those facing the disease.
