The Civil Guard and Maritime Rescue have rescued a total of 57 immigrants who have arrived on Tuesday afternoon to the coasts of Cabrera and Formentera aboard four boats. Of that total, 34 have been intercepted in the smaller pitiusa in two different boats.
The first interception, as reported by the Government Delegation in the Balearic Islands, took place at 16.00 hours at 2.55 miles south of Cabrera. On board the boat were 11 people of North African origin.
Shortly afterwards, at 16:11 hours, another 12 people of North African origin were rescued six miles off Cabrera.
At 18.14 hours 16 people, also of North African origin and who had arrived aboard a third boat, have been located atkilometer 10 of the PM-820 road, in Formentera.
Already at 20.15 hours, the Civil Guard has proceeded to intercept a total of 18 peopleof North African origin in the Pilar de la Mola on the island of Formentera, as detailed by the Government Delegation in the Balearic Islands.
Added to the 16 intercepted at 06.30 a.m. on a road in Llucmajor, this brings the total number of migrants arriving at the Balearic coast on Tuesday to 73.
