223 dead, 215 in Valencia, and 50 missing is the last known balance of the lethal DANA. The ante mortem offices of the National Police and the Civil Guard, in collaboration with forensic doctors, registered 50 active missing persons files in the province of Valencia at 20:00 hours this Friday. This figure represents a reduction of 28 cases compared to the previous day, thanks to the increase in identifications among the deceased and the location of living persons. The Institute of Legal Medicine (IML) of the City of Justice of Valencia has received 212 bodies so far. According to the Data Integration Center (CID), 211 have already been autopsied and 183 are fully identified (147 by fingerprints, 34 by DNA and two by hospital identification in life). However, 29 bodies remain unidentified. The Superior Court of Justice of the Valencian Community (TSJCV) has clarified that the number of active missing persons and the total number of deceased are different figures, indicating that “they should not be added in any case”. The active files may vary with new identifications, the increase of complaints or the location of people alive. The active ante mortem files correspond to reports in which family members have provided personal data and biological samples to police offices to assist in the identification of the missing. Compared to the previous day’s balance, there were five additional fatalities, 16 new identifications of the deceased, 11 more autopsies and 28 fewer active missing persons files. The morgue of Fira Valencia has delivered 128 bodies to the families for the respective funeral services.
