A man arrested in Santa Eulària accused of drug trafficking

The Civil Guard has arrested in Santa Eulària des Riu a 36 year old man of Spanish nationality as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against public health, after discovering in his home a marijuana plantation and various narcotic substances.

According to the Guardia Civil, the investigation began on October 17, when the Main Post of Santa Eulària received an anonymous tip about a possible marijuana plantation in a house in the town.

An investigation prompted by a citizen’s tip

Following the complaint, the agents began surveillance and verification work around the property. During the surveillance, they observed constant movement of people entering the house and leaving shortly after, which raised the suspicions of the investigators.

Upon intercepting some of these people, the agents found that they were carrying small quantities of marijuana and hashish, which reinforced the hypothesis of a possible drug cultivation and distribution activity. In addition, a strong odor characteristic of cannabis cultivation was perceived in the surroundings of the house, which led to the request for a search warrant.

Registration with positive result

The search of the house was carried out on Saturday, October 25, with judicial authorization. Inside, the agents found numerous marijuana plants already cut, as well as a greenhouse, irrigation systems, fertilizers and utensils used for the cultivation and handling of drugs.

In total, the Guardia Civil seized about 3.5 kilograms of marijuana, 87 grams of hashish, and small amounts of cocaine, “tusí” (pink cocaine) and ecstasy pills.

The detainee, who was already known to police forces for his involvement in crimes of robbery and injury, was arrested and brought to court as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of drug trafficking and against public health.
