An elderly man was rescued Thursday by the firefighters of Ibiza after being trapped in a subway water tank in a country house in the municipality of San Josep, in the vicinity of Setalaya Construction Materials, as confirmed to La Voz de Ibiza sources of the emergency body.
Five personnel and one rescue vehicle
The incident occurred at around 14:30 hours, when an emergency call alerted the rescue services. Five firefighters went to the scene with a rescue vehicle, working in coordination with the Civil Guard and medical personnel from SAMU 061. “The entrance hole was quite small, but they managed to get him out,” said the fire station.
During the rescue, it was found that the man had suffered injuries to a leg, although he was not unconscious at any time. The injured man was treated at the scene by the medical services, although the number of personnel involved in his medical care was not specified.
Fell while cleaning the cistern
According to the alerter, a relative of the injured man, the man was cleaning the tank when he suffered the accident. The depth of the tank has not been determined, but firefighters have confirmed that it was a confined space and difficult to access.
The incident occurred at a scattered property in Camp Mazda, in San Josep de sa Talaia, in a rural area close to a well-known construction supply center.
