Air Europa will add more than 8,300 additional seats on routes between the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands during the Christmas campaign, a reinforcement that, according to the company, will be concentrated mainly in Palma de Mallorca, with more than 7,000 seats, while it has not been specified how many will be assigned to Ibiza or Menorca.
The increase is part of the airline’s Christmas campaign, which will increase the total number of seats offered between December 17 and January 9 by almost 27,000, 60% more than last year.
The special operation includes more than 130 additional flights, supported by the incorporation of new Boeing 787 Dreamliner units for long-haul and Boeing 737 MAX on short and medium-haul routes. This reinforcement seeks to absorb the increase in demand typical of the Christmas season, especially in the archipelagos.
Flights in Europe and Spain
In Europe, Air Europa will increase by almost 80% the additional capacity in destinations with Christmas tradition such as Munich, Zurich, Rome and Milan, approaching 8,000 extra seats. The company highlights the strong demand in European cities with high tourist activity in December, a common trend at this time of year.
The long-haul segment is also strengthened with an increase of more than 63% on routes to Miami, Punta Cana and Santiago de los Caballeros, which will add more than 7,000 additional seats. In the Dominican Republic, the increase will exceed 5,200 seats.
In Spain, in addition to the reinforcement in the Balearic Islands, the airline will add more than 3,200 seats on its routes to the Canary Islands. In the case of Ibiza, Air Europa has not detailed how many additional seats it will operate, despite being part of the set of Peninsula-Balearic routes included in the announced increase.
