The crisis in Formentera lived Friday morning a new chapter. After the plenary session of the institution, the former president of the PP of Formentera, José Manuel Alcaraz, approached the presidential table which had previously been attended by the head of Communication of the Consell de Formentera, journalist José María de Lamo. At that moment, Alcaraz rebuked the professional, urging him to “stop telling journalists that I lie” in an angry tone, to say the least. Alcaraz has recognized to La Voz de Ibiza to have said these words. Where the version of the facts changes is that Alcaraz says that “De Lamo confronted me” when for the president of the Consell, Llorenç Córdoba, eyewitness of the incident, it was the opposite. According to Córdoba’s account it was the councilor of sa Unió who used an “aggressive tone”, which motivated him to call his attention. “That’s enough, José!” said the president, raising his voice, which caused all eyes of politicians and journalists to turn to Alcaraz and the advisor.
Chest blows
According to Cordoba and De Lamo, Alcaraz hit the journalist on several occasions in the chest with the back of his hand, something that the opposition councilor categorically denies.“In no way did that happen, I raised my hand to stop him from coming closer. I have not hit anyone in the chest and I never will”. Councilor Oscar Portas intervened in the scuffle and things did not escalate. De Lamo has not wanted to make statements or denounce the incident. “I understand that he (Alcaraz) may be nervous about the UCO investigation,” De Lamo told La Voz de Ibiza.
Surreal
Alcaraz wanted to justify the claim on the following grounds “the only thing that Llorenç (Córdoba) asked me to do for the 2024 budgets was to raise Chema’s (De Lamo) salary”.
