The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN) has warned this Wednesday of the presence of metal and rubber fragments in two batches of Knorr‘s dehydrated chicken noodle soup, a product initially distributed in several autonomous communities, including the Balearic Islands, according to a notification sent by the Romanian health authorities. The alert directly affects consumers in the islands, where the state agency has requested the immediate withdrawal of the product.
The warning, issued after the company’s own self-control, affects lots 527922C93 and 528022C93, both with expiration date 04/2027, in 63-gram packages kept at room temperature. AESAN emphasizes that the company has reported the incident voluntarily and in compliance with the regulations, in order to prevent unsafe food from reaching the market.
Affected communities
The initial distribution of the products was carried out in Andalusia, Balearic Islands, Catalonia, Canary Islands, Castilla-La Mancha, Galicia and Madrid, without ruling out that redistributions to other territories have taken place, so the scope of the alert could be greater. In the Balearic Islands, the health authorities have already activated the corresponding protocols to verify the withdrawal of the product.
AESAN, under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, has expressly recommended to anyone who has any of these containers at home to refrain from consuming them and return them to the establishment where they were purchased. The agency insists that the alert is preventive, but that the presence of foreign bodies may pose a health risk.
The communication has been sent to all the autonomous communities through the Coordinated System for the Rapid Exchange of Information (SCIRI), to verify the total withdrawal of the affected lots and prevent their commercialization. This mechanism makes it possible to trace dangerous products immediately, minimizing consumer exposure.
