The Week of the Sea of the Club Nàutic Sant Antoni has reached a significant milestone with the participation of almost 15,000 schoolchildren in its 30 editions.
Since its first edition in 1996, this educational program has brought the students of Ibiza and Formentera closer to the sea through sailing activities, environmental workshops and excursions that promote respect and conservation of the marine environment.
An educational project with social and environmental impact
This Friday the official presentation of the XXX Setmana del Mar was held at the club’s headquarters, with the participation of students from CEIP Can Coix, who were able to experience firsthand the activities of the program. During the ceremony, the importance of this event has been highlighted both at a sporting and educational level, as it contributes to the promotion of the sport of sailing and awareness of the preservation of the marine ecosystem.
One of the most relevant aspects of the event is its commitment to sustainability. Setmana del Mar is already a 100% sustainable project in content and form, with 80% of its activities focused on environmental education. Over the years, thousands of students have learned about the impact of human activity on the sea and the need to protect it.
A consolidated activity with institutional support
The program is maintained financially thanks to the collaboration of various institutions and companies. It is supported by CaixaBank, Eroski and Rumbo Norte, as well as public administrations such as the Consell de Ibiza, the Sant Antoni Town Hall and the Conselleria de Educación del Govern Balear.
To commemorate the 30th anniversary, an interactive mural has been created with QR codes that link to the Es Nàutic website, where those interested can access historical information, photographs and videos of all previous editions. In addition, a special closing ceremony has been announced to be held on April 15 at the Caló de S’Oli Auditorium.
An edition with 199 students and unique experiences
This year, the Setmana del Mar has the participation of 199 fifth grade students from 10 schools on the island. During the program, the students learn to sail in the bay of Sant Antoni, visit the island of Formentera, the Aquarium de es Cap Blanc and sa Conillera, as well as participate in workshops on marine biodiversity.
The event is currently at its halfway point, with five weeks of activities still ahead before the celebration of the special day Un dia a la Mar and the closing ceremony.
Institutional presence and support of the nautical sector
The presentation ceremony was attended by the president of the CNSA, José Tur, accompanied by the sports director of the entity, Enrique Mas. Also participating were representatives of the sponsoring entities, such as the Councillor for Youth of the Consell de Ibiza, Marilina Ribas; the Councillor for Sports of Sant Antoni, Daniel Sanchez; the owner of Rumbo Norte, Enrique Terol, and the territorial delegate in Ibiza and Formentera of CaixaBank, Marta Guitián.
