The City Council of Sant Antoni has celebrated this morning the act of the Premis de l’Esport of the municipality, in which the most outstanding sportsmen and women during the year 2024 have been recognized.
For the second consecutive year, the annual awards for the best individual athlete, the best sporting event, best team and the most collaborative person with the sport have been made. The table tennis player Alejandro Tirado, CTT Portmany player, has received the award for best athlete of 2024, after being the first Ibizan to participate in the Paralympic Games, as well as being proclaimed champion of Spain in singles and doubles. In addition to his successes at national and international level, it is a recognition for his example of overcoming and merits of having reached the highest level with his participation in the Games.

The LEB Silver team of Class Bàsquet Sant Antoni has been awarded for the second consecutive year as the best team, while the Vuelta Cicloturista a Ibiza has been recognized as the best sporting event. For her part, the president of CD Es Puig, Marta Serra, has received the award as the most committed and collaborated with the sport thanks to the organization of the Ibiza Trail Marathon. The first special mention of 2024 has received the president of Club Trijasa, Toni Marí Serra, for his sporting career in the municipality, being 32 years judge of duathlon and triathlon, creator of the municipal school of triathlon and organizer of the swim to sa Cova de ses Llagostes, which in this 2025 will be 25 years old. They have also received special mention the Sant Antoni Cycling Club, for its 50th anniversary, the outgoing board of the CN Portus, for the growth of the club tripling the number of athletes and achieving important merits in national championships, and the Tandem Fiona, for the outstanding sporting career on the island in the Club Colombófilo Portmany. The mayor of Sant Antoni, Marcos Serra, said that in the Premis de l’Esport “we celebrate the victories, medals and titles won, but also the values that sport embodies as discipline, teamwork and self-improvement to be better every day”. “The awards that we present today are a way to publicly recognize the dedication of athletes and sports entities and their positive impact they generate within the portmanyina society. They are an example and a mirror in which the spirit of Sant Antoni is reflected,” stressed the mayor. Serra has also highlighted the work of coaches, families, clubs, sponsors and volunteers, who with their contribution “Sant Antoni is consolidated as a sports reference, where new generations find inspiration and support to achieve their goals.” “From the City Council we will also continue to support sports initiatives and promote the improvement of facilities because we believe that sport is a key piece to build a healthier, more supportive and cohesive municipality.” The event, which was held at the Cine Regio, has had Juanjo Planells, president of the Sant Antoni Cycling Club and organizer of some of the major sporting events in our municipality, positioning Sant Antoni at the top nationally and internationally, as the town’s town crier.
Awards
The Premis de l’Esport de Sant Antoni have recognized a total of 96 athletes of the municipality, of which there have been 20 international and 76 national awards, in addition to the four annual awards and special mentions. One more year the jet ski rider Álex Prats, from Motoclub Eivissa and Formentera, stands out as runner-up of the world and Europe in the Runabout GP4 modality. Aitor Casal, José Gutiérrez and José Serra of the Club Atletismo Sa Raval in the Master category, as well as 14 athletes of the Club Esportiu Dojo Hikari Kyokushi have also obtained international titles in podium position. Regarding the national awards, 76 athletes who have obtained outstanding rankings in Spanish championships, between the first and eighth position, highlighting 30 national champions. Among the awards distributed in the Premis de l’Esport have been represented about 20 clubs in the municipality such as athletics, water sports, table tennis, badminton, motor sports, skating, agility, aesthetic gymnastics, martial arts, swimming, basketball or cycling. During the event, the O Beach Gimnástica Club team, champions of Spain in the first National of the discipline, have offered an exhibition of aesthetic gymnastics.
