The City Council of Sant Antoni has announced changes in the program of the Day of Sant Antoni, to be held this Friday, January 17, due to the forecast of bad weather. The traditional parade of carts, one of the most anticipated moments of the festival, has been canceled, while the rest of the events will be concentrated in the surroundings of the church.
Changes in the program due to inclement weather
In an official statement, the City Council has indicated that the procession, the blessing of animals and the ball pagès will be maintained, weather permitting.
However, in case of rain during the events, the ball pagès will be moved inside the church to ensure that it can be carried out in safe conditions. This decision, as expressed from the Consistory, has been taken to protect both participants and attendees from possible complications arising from adverse weather conditions.
Tradition adapted to the climate
The Day of Sant Antoni, one of the most beloved festivities in the municipality, faces an unusual scenario this year. Despite the cancellations, the City Council has encouraged neighbors and visitors to participate in the events that remain in place and enjoy this adapted day, where tradition and the festive spirit will be kept alive. With these adjustments, Sant Antoni de Portmany demonstrates its commitment to the safety of citizens and the preservation of celebrations that, despite the weather, remain a meeting point for the community.
