The Balearic Government, through the Department of Enterprise, Self-Employment and Energy, is carrying out the replacement of 30 recharging points of the Melib public network with the aim of modernizing the existing equipment and improving the quality, reliability and availability of the service for citizens.
As reported by the Conselleria on Monday in a statement, the action takes place in different municipalities of the archipelago. In Maó, the works are concentrated in the parking located in the camí de Ses Vinyes with Vives Llull Avenue, where several recharging points will be renewed. In Bunyola, the intervention will be carried out in the Can Gual parking lot, while in Ses Salines the work will take place in the sports center parking lot and in several locations in Colònia de Sant Jordi, such as Francesc de Borja Moll avenue, Príncep street and Primavera avenue.
The renewal of equipment also reaches other municipalities in Mallorca, among them the Son Tugores parking lot, in Alaró; Raiguer Avenue, in Consell; Marina road, in Porreres; two points in Sant Joan, located in Petra and Francesc Mas i Galmés streets; and the parking lot in Fetget street, next to Mallorca square, in Son Servera.
Currently, the Melib network has 1,248 public charging stations distributed among Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera, an implementation that, according to the Government, guarantees a balanced coverage throughout the island territory and reinforces the confidence of citizens in electric mobility as a real and viable alternative.
In addition to the replacement of the recharging points, the corporate image of the Melib network has been updated, with the aim of facilitating the identification of the chargers in the public space and reinforcing their visibility. In addition, a unified comprehensive maintenance service has been implemented, which will enable faster attention to incidents, optimize response times and increase the effective availability of the equipment.
The reinforcement of the infrastructure is completed with new measures to support sustainable mobility. The Government has increased by 13.5 million euros the funds of the Moves III 2025 program in the Balearic Islands, in order to respond to the high demand for aid. This extension will allow to continue subsidizing both the purchase of electric vehicles and the installation of new recharging points, consolidating the progress towards a more sustainable transport model.
