Catalina Torres Roig, neighbor of es Puig d’en Valls and one of the longest-lived women in Ibiza, passed away this Tuesday at the age of 101. Popularly known as ‘Catalina d’en Lluquí’, she was born in Sant Miquel, lived for years in Santa Gertrudis and, since 1955, resided in Puig d’en Valls, a town in the municipality of Santa Eulària.
In January 2024, on the occasion of her centenary, she received a tribute from the City Council of Santa Eulària. The mayoress, Carmen Ferrer, together with the councilors Marisol Ferrer and Susi Ribas, presented her with a plaque, Ibizan earrings and a bouquet of flowers, highlighting the value of the elderly as transmitters of local identity.
“They are living history of our parishes and we want to be able to continue to learn from their example and their vitality for many years to come,” the mayor said at the time.
On her 100th birthday, Catalina Torres celebrated with her son, two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, reflecting the strength of her family roots.
The farewell to Catalina Torres Roig will take place this Wednesday, January 7, in Pompas Fúnebres Ibiza from 14.30 hours.
Afterwards, a funeral mass will be held at 4.30 p.m. in the Parish Church of Puig d’en Valls, where relatives and neighbors will be able to say their last farewell to a woman considered part of the living memory of the municipality.
