Santa Eulària prepares to live this Wednesday, February 12 its Big Day within the festivities of the municipality. The day will feature a full program of activities that fuses tradition with culture and entertainment for all ages.
El Día Grande: traditions and music in the heart of Santa Eulària
The day will begin with the ringing of bells, a symbol that will mark the beginning of the celebration. This will be followed by the solemn mass in honor of Santa Eulària, which will take place in the emblematic Puig de Missa, the religious and cultural heart of the municipality. After the ceremony, the traditional procession will take place, where attendees can accompany the image of the saint in a journey full of symbolism and devotion.
Folklore will also play a key role in the morning with the performance of the group Colla des Broll, which will offer an exhibition of ball pagès, one of the most deeply rooted traditions in the Ibizan culture.
Music will be another of the main protagonists of the Big Day of Santa Eulària. After the religious acts, the Passeig de s’Alamera will become the epicenter of the celebration with the live performance of James Band, which will offer a varied repertoire to liven up the day and put the rhythm to the festivity.
In the afternoon, attendees will have two cultural options to continue the celebration. At the Teatro España, the theater group Es Cubells will perform the play Can Consistori, a proposal that promises entertainment and humor. For those who prefer music, the groups Vudú Delta and Billy Flamingos will offer a concert from 8:30 p.m. on Passeig de s’Alamera, closing the Big Day with a golden brooch of sound.
A festival with more than one month of activities
The festivities of Santa Eulària do not end here. The program will last until March 23 with an agenda full of cultural, gastronomic and sports activities.
In the cultural field, highlights the screening of Es gegant des Vedrà i altres rondaies at the Teatro España, as well as the Festival del Humor de Santa Eulària, which will bring renowned comedians such as Edu Soto and Raül Massana to the municipality.
In the gastronomic section, on Saturday, March 8, the IX Fira Gastronòmica des Gerret will be held in Sant Jaume street, an event that will combine sale and tasting of this emblematic fish, as well as contests to liven up the day.
Sports, another fundamental pillar of the festival
As is tradition, the sport will also have a major role in these festivities. Among the most anticipated competitions is the XXX Duatló Santa Eulària, scheduled for March 15, an event that will bring together athletes from all over the island.
Another highlight will be the 29th edition of the Passeig a Passeig, one of the most emblematic races in Ibiza, which will be held on Sunday, March 16. In addition, the International Beach Tennis Tournament in Cala Llonga will close the sports calendar on the penultimate weekend of March.
