About 300 seniors gathered this Thursday in the tent of Vara de Rey, in Ibiza, to celebrate the Christmas toast of the Club de Jubilados del Esplai de Can Ventosa, a meeting full of reunions, joy and Christmas spirit. The event, organized by the City Council of Ibiza, aimed to provide a space for celebration and brotherhood for those who are an active part of community life in the city.

The mayor of Ibiza, Rafael Triguero, participated in the event to congratulate the attendees and thank them for their contribution to the city, wishing them “health and joy for the coming year”. During his speech, Triguero stressed the importance of dedicating time and specific spaces to the elderly, recognizing their essential role in the social structure of the municipality.
“We want our seniors to feel an active part of Ibiza, also on these special dates,” said Triguero.
The Councilor for the Elderly, Sara Barbado, also wanted to convey her message during the event, stressing that the City Council is working for Ibiza to have an inclusive, accessible and barrier-free Christmas, especially designed for the welfare of the elderly.
“These meetings allow us to strengthen ties, combat loneliness and pay tribute to those who have built this city,” said Barbado.
The celebration was also attended by the island councilor for Social Welfare, Carolina Escandell, who valued positively the organization of community activities focused on the emotional and social well-being of the elderly, especially at times like Christmas.
Christmas with a community flavor
The Esplai de Can Ventosa Christmas toast is thus consolidated as one of the traditional events of the Christmas calendar in Ibiza, promoting intergenerational encounter, shared joy and social cohesion. The festive atmosphere, accompanied by music, snacks and many smiles, made the event a special day for hundreds of neighbors.
