The president of the Consell de Formentera, Llorenç Cordobaacknowledged this Monday that he himself has filed a series of complaints “against alleged irregularities and possible crimes.alleged irregularities and possible crimes“that he has verified since his arrival at the Consell. As he said, his commitment to ethics and transparency have forced him to make public these concerns and, among other things, he said that “for responsibility” he has no intention of resigning. In a press conference, Cordoba explained that, since his arrival, he has been collecting information on the alleged irregular actions and situations, although he did not want to provide too much data to respect the investigation of the UCO of the Guardia Civil and the Prosecutor’s Office against corruption and organized crime. Among other examples, and in relation to issues included in the file, Cordoba has pointed out that one of the “important” issues is the one related to the beach contest and, thus, has pointed out that“a very serious thing“, as he says that the Prosecutor’s Office told him, is that there were changes of criteria in the scores during the contest, as advanced by La Voz de Ibiza. He has also pointed out that in the process there were people with“manifest incompatibilities” who finally had to leave the contest. “There are firm sentences that have not yet been resolved. We would have to know why,” he added. In relation to other matters, the president has referred to the approval of licenses in a “suspicious” way in Government Boards in which “many people” were missing, introducing certain licenses urgently. He also spoke of“quite suspicious changes in urban planning figures that should be investigated” and spoke of files being processed at different speeds. Cordoba has stated that he does not want to interfere in the investigation and explained that this information was transferred by himself to the Prosecutor’s Office to clarify the facts. “Every day for many months I spent hours and hours gathering information and ordering it to facilitate the work of the Prosecutor’s Office,” he added. He has also assured that the complaint filed by PP and Compromís against the president meant that he had to advance the initial delivery of the documentation. Córdoba considered that, since he has been in office, he has suffered a “climate of persecution and harassment”, so he considered it necessary to make the complaint public. As he insisted, the UCO has begun weeks ago the interrogation of people related to the complaint. He has also accused PP and Compromís of “not betting on transparency” in the Consell, charging PSOE and Gent per Formentera for their attitude after the change of position of Córdoba in relation to the beach contest. The president has reiterated that he will not yield to pressure and said he is confident that the step taken will help to better understand his position in the institutional crisis. Finally, he said that the doors of the Consell are open for the relevant investigations to be carried out.
