A message sent via the WhatsApp application to the group of the Community of Neighbors of Don Pepe has aroused great expectation in the last hours: the neighbors’ assembly has already been scheduled.
“The next day 22/12/2025 at 17:00 hrs. in the Cultural Center Can Jeroni in Sant Josep de Sa Talaia will take place an assembly of neighbors”, textually announces the message that has gone viral among the inhabitants of the residential complex composed of two blocks.
In 2020-2021, an eviction process began in Block A, which affects 22 families, following warnings of structural risk. While the B block continues to be inhabited by some families, in a situation of uncertainty.
December is precisely the deadline set by the City Council of Sant Josep to release the results of the report of the independent technician appointed to prepare a new expert analysis to determine whether it is possible to reverse the declaration of ruin of block A . appointed to prepare a new expert analysis to determine whether it is possible to revert the declaration of ruin of block A.
This had been agreed upon last April at a meeting held at the City Hall in which representatives of the council and the affected residents participated.
After the new episode of barricading of some neighbors in block A as a measure of pressure against the City Council at the end of September, Mayor Vicent Roig again promised the same: before the end of the year there would be a resolution.
For this reason, the call for this December 22 has generated great expectation among the owners of block A who are waiting to return to their homes. For this, the declaration of ruin for block A must be reversed, while the possibility of the mayor announcing the granting of a rehabilitation license for both blocks is also expected.
Consulted by La Voz de Ibiza, Silvia Hernández, spokeswoman for the neighbors of the Don Pepe, has stated that “they have only told us that they are working”, for which she awaits the news that will be announced in two weeks. “There we will be informed,” she said hopefully.
