The Camí del Calvari, one of the historical and most emblematic accesses to Dalt Vila, will officially reopen next Monday, December 22 after five months of remodeling works. The opening ceremony, which will take place at 10:00 a.m., will mark the end of a major project financed with funds from the Sustainable Tourism Tax (ITS) and the Eivissa World Heritage Consortium, and will be a key milestone in the recovery of this UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The remodeling of Camí del Calvari has had an investment of more than 2.5 million euros and has allowed to renew the road infrastructure, create two new viewpoints, enable a square with shaded areas and expand the parking to a total of 69 places. The aim of the project was to improve accessibility, safety and landscape integration of this historic path that connects with the old town of Ibiza.
The reopening of the road will also have a direct impact on the Parador de Ibiza project. As confirmed by the Secretary of State for Tourism to Radio Ibiza, the completion of the works will allow the execution of the electrical connection of the cistern that will supply water to the hotel complex, an essential step to be able to set an opening date, already scheduled for 2026.
The mayor of Vila, Rafael Triguero, reported a few days ago that the final touches were being made on the road. In October, the municipal government team had already told Paradores officials that the electrical connection of the cistern could not be carried out until the Camí del Calvari works were completed.
The cistern, built two decades ago to supply the complex, has been awarded to the company Aqualia for more than 274,000 euros. The work, considered the last necessary before the opening of the Parador, has an estimated completion period of four weeks. During this time, Paradores will be able to complete the equipment that it has not been able to install either before or during the access works.

Once the electrical connection of the cistern has been completed, an approximate date for the opening of the establishment can be determined. The monitoring of the project has been constant in recent months and, in early November, Triguero and the president of Paradores, Raquel Sanchez, held a meeting at the World Travel Market in London to address this issue, a dialogue that has been maintained during the development of the works, according to the Secretary of State for Tourism.
The inauguration ceremony of the Camí del Calvari will be attended by the Mayor of Eivissa, Rafael Triguero; the Councilor for Tourism, Culture and Sports of the Balearic Government, Jaume Bauzá; the Island Councilor for Municipal Cooperation, María Fajarnés, and the Town Planning Councilor of the Town Hall of Eivissa, Juan Flores.
