Finding a table for dinner in a restaurant on New Year’s Eve has become a real mission impossible in Ibiza. The vast majority of establishments already have all their tables reserved for the last night of the year, as confirmed by the sector.
From the PIMEEF restaurant sector explained to IB3 that this “all booked up” is not only due to the increase in demand, but also to the fact that the number of businesses that open during these dates has dropped. In recent years, they estimate that the number of restaurants operating at Christmas has fallen by around 10%.
Difficulty in finding personnel
The causes, they point out, are related to the difficulty in finding personnel and to the fact that the summer seasons are becoming longer and longer, which makes it difficult to maintain activity in winter. The result is that the few establishments that do open during these holidays are practically guaranteed to be full.
Thus, those who have not yet booked and want to find a place for these dates will have to wait for last-minute cancellations. For businesses that keep the shutters up, New Year’s Eve becomes an opportunity: with full reservations and closed menus, they can better calculate profit margins.
