The squall that since early morning affects the Balearic Islands has left moderate rainfall in Ibiza and Formentera. According to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) six liters per square meter have been registered in Formentera and four liters in Sant Antoni. The storms, as expected, have not been accompanied by electrical apparatus, and much of the rain has fallen at sea, especially between the channel of Ibiza and Mallorca.

In the rest of the archipelago, rainfall has also been contained: 13 liters in Sóller and six in Palma and Portopí, while much of the rainfall has fallen over the sea, especially between the channel of Ibiza and Mallorca. The thunderstorms were not accompanied by thunderstorms and there was a general drop in temperatures, with highs between 15 and 18 degrees. During these first hours, only one incident has been registered in Palma, related to the fall of branches from a tree.
The Govern calls for caution
The Balearic Government’s Emergency Service has reiterated its call for “maximum caution” in the face of adverse weather conditions. The General Directorate of Emergencies and Interior, under the Ministry of Presidency, Coordination of Government Action and Local Cooperation, has met this Saturday the Technical Advisory Committee of the Meteobal Plan to monitor the evolution of the storm.
The squall moves northward
According to the Aemet forecast, between 12.00 and 13.00 hours the center of the trough will be located over Mallorca and Menorca, where the weather is expected to stabilize progressively throughout the afternoon. In Ibiza and Formentera, the situation will tend to improve as the day progresses, although gusts of wind and significant waves remain on the coast.
Active warnings and emergency plans
The Aemet maintains this Saturday several weather warnings in the Balearic Islands:

Orange warning for heavy rains in the Serra de Tramuntana, north and northeast of Mallorca, and Menorca.

Yellow warning for rain and storms in Ibiza and Formentera, and coastal phenomena throughout the archipelago.
The Special Plan against Adverse Meteorological Phenomena (Meteobal) continues to be activated with orange level (IG-1) for rains and storms in Mallorca and Menorca, and yellow level (IG-0) in the Pitiusas, both for rains and wind and coastal phenomena.
Reinforcement of municipal coordination and devices
Emergencies has asked the municipalities to activate their Municipal Emergency Plans (PEMU) according to the alert level established by Civil Protection. In Palma, the plan is already underway, while the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Natural Environment has reinforced the operation in Mallorca and Menorca, with additional forest firefighters, environmental agents and fire trucks.

The General Directorate of Emergencies and Interior recalls the importance of following the indications of Civil Protection, avoid unnecessary travel and do not approach coastal areas or torrents while active warnings persist.
