The Hospital of Formentera has reestablished this Wednesday the normality in its surgical and delivery area after the definitive laboratory results confirmed the absence of microorganisms in the facilities. This result follows a thorough cleaning carried out as a preventive measure and the replacement of the air conditioning system, implemented to ensure optimal ventilation and safety conditions.
Measures taken and favorable results
The decision to temporarily suspend interventions and deliveries at the hospital was taken after detecting, during a routine quarterly control, levels of environmental microorganisms that exceeded the appropriate limits. The main objective of this measure was to ensure patient safety. Since then, a comprehensive sanitization and a thorough overhaul of the surgical area was carried out, including the installation of a new air conditioning system that improves ventilation conditions. Preliminary results had already indicated the absence of microorganisms, and definitive analyses have confirmed the feasibility of resuming surgical and obstetric activities.
Reprogramming and derivations
During this period, the hospital had to reschedule 17 non-urgent surgeries that will be carried out as a priority in the coming days. In addition, three referrals to Can Misses Hospital were managed, among them a euthyroid delivery, successfully performed last Saturday, where a 30-year-old woman gave birth to a 3,280-gram baby boy without complications.
Reinforcement of security protocols
Among the corrective measures carried out, the replacement of the air conditioning system and the implementation of reinforced protocols in the wardrobe and footwear circuits of the surgical area stand out. These actions are part of the Hospital de Formentera’s commitment to guarantee the highest safety standards in healthcare.
