Sant Jordi once again bid an early farewell to the year with the celebration of its traditional early chimes, an event that allows neighbors and visitors to eat their grapes early and welcome the new year in a festive and communal atmosphere.
After two editions marked by adverse weather, the day was accompanied this year by sunny weather, which facilitated a high participation in the tent installed in the town center. From early in the morning, the booths were full of people and the cotillion, Christmas hats and grapes -in some cases replaced by sweets- were the stars of the celebration.
The meeting, which also has a solidarity character, had the involvement of numerous volunteers in charge of the preparations, the sale of grapes and the preparation of food and drink. The party was not limited to the chimes, as many attendees took advantage of the day to stay for lunch and extend the celebration during the afternoon.
In addition, a space was set up for a wish workshop, where people of all ages could write and post messages with their resolutions for the new year, becoming one of the most popular points of the event and reinforcing the participatory nature of the initiative.
A few minutes before noon, this December 31, the tent was filled to hear the twelve bells, which sounded from the church of Sant Jordi. After the last touch, music, applause and toasts marked the symbolic beginning of 2026, in a celebration that once again brought together different generations of the town and consolidated this tradition as one of the most awaited events at the end of the year.
