The 23rd edition of Junior Eurovision will be held on Saturday, December 13 in the city of Tbilisi (Georgia). Unlike the adult version of the festival, and since Israel does not participate, Spain is one of the 18 countries that will perform in this contest with young artists between nine and 14 years old.
Spain will be represented by the young singer from Madrid Gonzalo Pinillos, who will perform the song Érase una vez (Once upon a time). The Spanish representative will perform in the 14th position of the final, which can be followed live on La 1 and RTVE Play from 17.00 hours.
How the winner is chosen and how to vote for Spain
The selection of the winner is made by a mixed vote between the professional jury (50%) and the public (50%), as in the adult edition. But there is a key difference in Eurovision Junior 2025: in this case, the citizens of each country can vote for their own representative, something that is not always possible in the adult edition.
The Spanish audience can support Gonzalo Pinillos online for free through the contest’s official website, JESC.tv. After receiving the votes, the organization will convert them into points following a proportional system.

Who participates and the return of some countries
The following countries are participating in this edition of Eurovision Junior 2025: Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Croatia, Cyprus, France, Georgia, Ireland, Italy, Malta, Montenegro, Netherlands, North Macedonia, Poland, Portugal, San Marino, Ukraine and Spain.
For some of these countries, this year’s edition marks a return after several years without participating – Montenegro last did so in 2015, Croatia in 2014 and Azerbaijan in 2021.
The Spanish representative: Gonzalo Pinillos
Gonzalo Pinillos, 14 years old, was chosen among the 270 candidates submitted to the online casting for Junior Eurovision. He began studying piano and musical language at the age of six and since then has maintained a constant training that led him to musical theater in 2020.
Its presence in the competition represents a new opportunity for Spain, which has only won once in the history of the children’s festival: in 2004 with María Isabel‘s Antes muerta que sencilla. Spain was one of the founding countries of the children’s version of the festival, which was created in 2003. In 2007, RTVE decided not to continue participating in the contest, returning in 2019 and since then it has participated every year.
Spain’s result in 2024
Last year, the festival was held in Madrid, after France, winner of the previous edition, declined to host the festival, having already hosted it several times. Spain came sixth with Chloe DelaRosa and her song Como la Lola, in an edition that was won by the song To My Mom by Georgian Andria Putkaradze.
