Ibiza and Formentera face a week of heavy rains and dropping temperatures

The week starts in Ibiza under an episode of atmospheric instability that will affect the entire warning area of Ibiza and Formentera. Weather forecasts for the next few days point to a generalized increase in the probability of rain, a progressive decrease in temperatures and episodes of moderate wind.

Monday: first rains and autumnal atmosphere

Monday will have temperatures between 15 and 18 degrees, and a probability of precipitation that will reach 80% during the morning. The snow level in the province is around 1,400 meters, although it does not directly affect the archipelago. The wind will blow from north and northwest components, with gusts around 15 km/h, and a very low UV index, typical of the time of year.

Tuesday and Wednesday: instability intensifies

Tuesday will continue with a changing scenario: rains will be less likely during the day (30% and 25%), but will intensify in the early morning with a 90% probability. Temperatures will range between 11 and 18 degrees, with the snow elevation dropping to 1,100 meters.

Wednesday is shaping up to be one of the wettest days of the week. The probability of precipitation will reach 100% in several bands, especially late in the day. The snow elevation drops to 600 meters, an indicator of cold air at altitude. Temperatures will range between 10 and 18 degrees.

Thursday: plummeting temperatures and widespread rainfall

Thursday will be, according to the forecast, the most adverse day. With temperatures between 5 and 17 degrees, the coldest record of the week appears. The probability of rain again soars to 90%, and the snow elevation rises slightly to 700 meters. The wind will maintain its predominance from the north, associated with the entry of cold air.

Weekend: slight improvement but no stability

Friday will be wintry, with lows of 3 degrees and highs of only 13 degrees. The probability of precipitation will remain high(100% in some sections) and the weather warnings for Ibiza and Formentera will remain active due to persistent rainfall.

Saturday and Sunday will bring a slight thermal respite, with highs of 16 and 18 degrees, respectively. However, the chance of precipitation will continue, especially on Saturday morning(90 %). On Sunday, although the probability drops to 35%, isolated showers are not ruled out.

A week marked by adverse weather conditions

The combination of north wind, falling temperatures and high probability of rainfall configures a fully autumn scenario -even winter at times- for Eivissa. Although the ultraviolet index remains low and does not represent a risk, the population is advised to exercise extreme caution when traveling, especially in the time slots with higher rainfall intensity.
