Ibiza and Formentera will be this Thursday, December 25 (Christmas) in yellow warning for rain, according to the forecast of the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet). The alert will remain active between 10.00 and 18.00 hours, a period in which it is expected to register up to 20 liters per square meter in an hour.
The episode is framed in a particularly unstable end of December in Ibiza, with several consecutive days of rainfall, very cloudy skies and humid atmosphere. As La Voz de Ibiza advanced in the forecast published on Wednesday, Christmas day will be the most complicated of the period, with widespread rains, 100% probability throughout the day and risk of storms.
A rainy Christmas day
The forecast is for Thursday to be dominated by persistent rains and showers, with wind tending to the northwest, of moderate intensity, and a slight drop in temperatures, with highs around 13 degrees and lows close to 7, in a context of very high humidity.
Although the situation will tend to soften partially on Friday 26, the Aemet maintains a high probability of precipitation in Ibiza during the next few days, prolonging the unstable pattern that has marked Christmas Eve and will continue during the weekend.
Notices in the rest of the Balearic Islands
Meanwhile, in the rest of the archipelago the warning will be concentrated on the coast. Menorca will be on yellow alert for coastal phenomena from 23.00 hours this Wednesday until 11.00 hours on Thursday, with wind gusts forecast between 50 and 60 km / h and waves up to three meters.
In Mallorca, the warning will only affect the north and northeast between midnight and 11.00 a.m. on Thursday, with swells that could also reach three meters.
The Aemet recommends following the evolution of the forecast and extreme caution in travel and exposed areas, especially during the central hours of Thursday.
