Ten years of national leadership
At the national level, the IEH 2025 once again ranks the Fundación Jiménez Díaz as the best hospital in Spain for the tenth consecutive year, highlighting its evolution towards an intelligent healthcare model, based on the integration of research, digitalization, efficiency in management and humanization of care. The report underscores the consistency of the Madrid center as the key to its continued leadership.
The executive vice-president of the Icgea, Jesús Sánchez Lambás, pointed out that “hospital excellence depends not only on clinical results, but also on a strategic vision sustained over time”, highlighting the transformation of the major Spanish healthcare centers.
Madrid dominates the national top 10
The national ranking confirms the strength of Madrid’s healthcare system, which occupies five of the top ten positions in the IEH 2025. After the Fundación Jiménez Díaz, Hospital Universitario La Paz remains in second place, followed by Hospital Vall d’Hebron in Barcelona, Hospital Gregorio Marañón and Hospital Clínico San Carlos. Catalonia contributes four centers to the top 10, while Andalusia returns to the ranking with the entry of the Hospital Universitario Reina Sofía de Córdoba.
Quality, innovation and patient care
The IEH has established itself as one of the main tools for measuring hospital excellence in Spain, analyzing parameters such as quality of care, patient satisfaction, innovative capacity and efficiency in the use of resources. The study places special emphasis on the humanization of care and personalized attention, aspects that are becoming increasingly important in the evaluation of healthcare centers.
To prepare the index, the Icgea carried out 2,300 surveys of healthcare professionals in different Spanish hospitals, the results of which served as the basis for the general, regional and specialty-based analysis. The report evaluates both public and private centers, with the aim of reflecting the solidity of the Spanish hospital system.
