The accumulated rainfall in Ibiza since the beginning of the hydrological year, on October 1, is above normal values, in contrast to the general trend of drought affecting the rest of the country.
According to data from the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) collected by Europa Press, in Spain as a whole, 51 liters per square meter (l/m²) have been recorded up to November 6, which is 41% less than the average value for this period(86 l/m²).
While most of the peninsular territory presents rainfall deficit, the agency highlights Ibiza as one of the few areas where rainfall exceeds normal values, along with areas of the peninsular east -from Almeria to the Ebro delta-, as well as in the province of Seville, southern Huelva and areas of the Central System.
During the last week analyzed, between October 29 and November 4, rainfall affected the entire Balearic Islands, with special incidence in Ibiza, where accumulations were notable. On the other hand, it hardly rained in Alicante and in the east of Murcia.
In the country as a whole, the highest rainfall was recorded in the north of Seville, with more than 60 l/m², and in Galicia, where some areas exceeded 120 l/m². Among the rainiest observatories were Vigo/Peinador (86 l/m²), Pontevedra (64 l/m²) and Santiago de Compostela (55 l/m²).
The AEMET details that on November 4 there were rains in almost all the Peninsula, with accumulations of more than 60 l/m² in Tarragona and the interior of Pontevedra.
