The Consell de Govern has given the green light this Friday to the collaboration agreement between the Conselleria de Salud and the Consell Insular de Ibiza to reinforce the attention to addictions during the year 2025. The Conselleria will allocate 127,448 euros to finance prevention, treatment and insertion actions between January 1 and December 31 of next year.
The spokesman of the autonomous Executive, Antoni Costa, explained that the agreement guarantees the coordination between administrations to address addictions from a comprehensive approach that includes both health intervention and social and community action. This agreement is part of the new Integral Plan of Addictions of the Balearic Islands 2025-2032, which aims to update protocols and improve resources in all the islands.
Reinforcement of AAUs and health protocols
The agreement contemplates multiple actions, including the preparation and supply of methadone for users of the Addictive Behavior Units (UCA), specialized outpatient care and insertion programs through professional teams that provide coverage to these units.
It also provides for the implementation and updating of the minimum portfolio of services of the UCAs, as well as the protocolization of care processes related to addiction care. Among the priority protocols are those for the detection and treatment of HIV and hepatitis C, pathologies that require rapid and coordinated screening.
Prevention in educational centers and vulnerable groups
The agreement also includes specific prevention actions in the educational field, with programs aimed at students, teachers and families, and the coordination of preventive activities in the community.
One of the most relevant lines will be the development and implementation of an early detection protocol for minors in vulnerable situations due to substance abuse or addictive behaviors, a growing problem in the islands.
Training of professionals and updating of data
Finally, the agreement will finance training and updating activities for professionals in the field of addictions, in order to establish a common framework for action in the Balearic Islands. It will also update the information of the centers and services involved to ensure a more efficient and coordinated care network.
