The 112 emergency service attended a total of 20,465 incidents in Ibiza and Formentera during 2024, of which 19,041 came from the largest of the Pitiusas and 1,424 from the smallest.
According to data presented by the General Director of Emergencies and Interior, Pablo Garriz, this figure represents an increase of 3% compared to the previous year.
A summer of maximum activity
As expected, most of the calls were concentrated during the summer months, when the emergency service received more than 3,000 daily alerts in the Balearic Islands. In the case of Ibiza and Formentera, the average was 52 incidents per day, with a notable increase in July and August.
By municipalities, Ibiza capital topped the list with almost 7,000 calls, followed by Sant Josep with 4,200 and Santa Eulària with 3,950. Behind were Sant Antoni, with 3,200 incidents, and Sant Joan, with 750.
The director of the Emergency Center in the Balearic Islands, Eduardo Parga, pointed out that 15 % of all the incidents registered in the archipelago corresponded to Ibiza, while Formentera represented 1.5 %.
The most common emergencies
The report details that medical emergencies were the most common in Ibiza, representing between 30% and 35% of the notifications. In Formentera, on the other hand, the most frequent incidents were related to motorcycle accidents, with a total of 154 cases during the year.
At the Balearic level, 112 managed 136,154 incidents in 2024, with an average of 373 emergencies per day. Medical consultations and health emergencies were the most numerous, followed by traffic accidents, fights, assaults and domestic accidents.
The balance of 112 activity was presented coinciding with the European Day of the Emergency Telephone, in a ceremony attended by the president of the Govern, Marga Prohens. At the event, the work of the emergency teams and the importance of continuing to strengthen the service, especially in the busiest months, was highlighted.
