Jaume Marí, popularly known as ‘Refila’, died on Wednesday at the age of 63. A native of Portinatx, he was for more than three decades one of the best known stallholders of the Mercat Nou of Ibiza, where he developed his professional activity until his retirement.
Refila’ was a great lover of the sea and fishing, a hobby closely linked to his personal identity, but mainly he ran, together with his wife Carmen, a cooked vegetables stall in the municipal market.
The business was family-run and had been inherited from an uncle of his partner, remaining one of the traditional stalls in the precinct and a point of reference for numerous regular customers.
The funeral will be held this Friday, January 9 at 16.00 hours in the church of Sant Joan. The wake will take place previously, from 13.00 hours, in Pompas Fúnebres Ibiza.
