The businessman Joan Tur Juan, founder and owner of the establishment FITA, passed away this Wednesday in Ibiza, at the age of 78. He died after a life dedicated to the commerce of the city, where his business became one of the points of reference of the urban center. His passing marks the end of a career closely linked to traditional Ibizan commerce.
Tur directed for decades a trade that evolved along with the city itself. FITA was born more than half a century ago and maintained its activity adapting to market changes, consolidating itself as an establishment known by residents and visitors. The business was part of the commercial landscape of the center of Ibiza for several generations.
An appointment linked to his vision of trade
Throughout his career, Tur expressed in different interviews his idea of business and customer service. In one of them he stated that “commerce only works if you know how to listen to people”, a phrase that reflected the philosophy he applied throughout his professional career. This principle accompanied the evolution of the establishment and defined his relationship with the clientele.
According to Diario de Ibiza, Tur died surrounded by his family. The local newspapers highlighted his role at the head of FITA and recalled the relevance of the establishment in the development of local commerce in the city. The media underlined the historical importance of the business as part of the Ibizan commercial fabric.
The funeral will be this Friday at 4 p.m. in the parish church of Santa Cruz. That same day, at 12 noon, will be his wake at Pompas Fúnebres.
