More than a hundred agents of the National Police, the Civil Guard and officials of the Customs Surveillance Service (SVA) are carrying out since early Tuesday morning a major anti-drug operation in Ibiza. The large-scale operation is being carried out simultaneously in different parts of the island and is part of an investigation that remains under the secrecy of summary.
According to sources close to the investigation, the agents have initiated searches in several houses, where they are looking for narcotic substances and other possible elements related to drug trafficking activities.
House searches and planned arrests
The searches began in the early hours of the morning, when dozens of officers broke into different homes in a coordinated manner. The operation is still underway and it is not ruled out that several arrests will be made throughout the day, once the judicial and police actions are completed, according to Última Hora.
At this stage, the authorities have not provided further details on the scope of the investigation, the exact number of searches or possible drug seizures, pending the lifting of the secrecy of the investigation.
Participation of specialized units
The operation involves agents from the Drug and Organized Crime Unit (UDYCO) and the Prevention and Reaction Unit (UPR) of the National Police, together with members of the Civil Guard and officials from the Customs Surveillance Service. The presence of these specialized units is evidence of the complexity and relevance of the investigation.
