A Red Cross worker in Ibiza has found this Tuesday morning the lifeless body of a 64 year old man, who had been sleeping for days in the gardens of the headquarters of the organization, located on Avenida de España. The deceased, identified as a homeless person from Jaén, was discovered at around 9 am. The emergency services went to the scene, but could only certify his death, since, according to initial reports, he had been dead for several hours.
A tragic fate in the midst of a relief effort
According to Diario de Ibiza sources, the man had been sleeping on a mattress under a tree in this space for at least a week. Paradoxically, his admission to the first reception center of Sa Bodega had been arranged, a service that would have allowed him to leave the outdoors. The referral to the center took place just one day before the discovery of her body, which adds a heartbreaking note to the event.
Emergency intervention and transfer
The SAMU061 emergency service sent an advanced life support ambulance to the scene, as reported by the aforementioned media. However, on noting the time elapsed since death, resuscitation maneuvers were not carried out. After 11:30 a.m., the body was taken to a health center for the corresponding forensic procedures.
