The Pujada a la Catedral once again bid farewell to the year in Ibiza with its usual combination of sport, tradition and popular atmosphere. The event, already established as one of the classics of the local athletic calendar, gathered hundreds of runners in the ascent to Dalt Vila.
The race maintained its traditional format: a fast and demanding course, starting at the port and finishing in the upper part of the city, crowning the finish line at the gates of the monumental Cathedral, in one of the most symbolic New Year’s Eve races on the island.
Winners
In the men’s absolute classification, the victory went to Mark Roper Planells (C.A. Pitiús), who stopped the clock in 7:17. Second place went to Mauro García-Vallés Cannestracci (C.A. Pitiús) with 7:30.9, while third place went to Josep Torres Riera (C.A. Vallenc) with 7:40.2.
In the women’s category, the victory went to Nuria Tauler Lorenzo, first with a time of 9:14.1. She was followed by Gloria Tejado Corbacho (Sa Raval) with 9:19.3, and completed the podium Noelia Pérez Tur (Hybiza Athletes), third with 9:43.3.
The day again showed the special character of this race: not only for its competitive component, but also for the atmosphere that surrounds it. La Pujada is experienced as a sporting festival open to all levels, with popular participation and that playful point that makes it every year a perfect closing for the island athletic calendar.
