While the demand for digital workshops is growing in Ibiza, the Fundación Cibervoluntarios recognizes that the main obstacle to start the “Yo Conecto” program is the lack of available trainers on the island, a lack that is slowing down the planned schedule of courses. “We are finding it difficult to find trainers in Ibiza,” Andrea Tarraso, project coordinator, told La Voz de Ibiza during the conversation held for this information. The entity is looking for profiles to be able to activate the sessions aimed at citizens and seniors in different municipalities. The call is still open and anyone who wants to apply must do so through the section Work with us of the foundation.
An unexpected brake: not enough trainers on the island
The lack of available personnel has become the critical point for deploying the program’s activities. “It is in Ibiza, in particular, where we encounter the most difficulties,” explained Tarraso . The coordinator attributes the problem to two factors:
-
The seasonality of the island’s labor market, which reduces the availability of candidates.
-
The discontinuous fixed-term contract model, which concentrates courses in specific weeks and then leaves periods without activity, something that limits the interest of some professionals.
In a context where the digital divide affects the elderly with particular intensity, the organization insists that starting training as soon as possible requires expanding the team of trainers as soon as possible. Each paragraph carries an SEO element, so here we include a hyperlink to local content on seniors: municipal programs for seniors in Ibiza.
What is “Yo Conecto” and why is Ibiza on the priority list?
The “Yo Conecto” program , funded to hire specialized trainers, offers eight-hour workshops, which can be delivered in two or four sessions. The initiative is designed for all citizens, although it devotes special attention to senior citizens. It includes areas such as cybersecurity, online banking, electronic procedures, basic cell phone use and practical applications that users need for their day-to-day digital life.
“The idea is to reach both municipalities and educational centers, senior centers or organizations working with people with disabilities,” said Tarraso. In Ibiza there are plans to coordinate activities with different municipalities, although the schedule has not yet been finalized. The organization, which has already collaborated on the island with projects such as the Sant Josep Digital Camp, reminds that getting a team of trainers is an essential first step.
young people from Sant Josep trained in technological skills.
According to Tarraso, Cibervoluntarios has developed two types of projects on the island:
-
Programs with contracted trainers, such as Campamento Digital, which has reached about 60 young people, a figure to be confirmed by the data manager, DEMO Filó (❗ data to be confirmed with DEMO).
-
Technology volunteer programs, which have trained another 60 adults in basic digital skills.
This data will allow us to contextualize the previous impact of the NGO in Ibiza when the final figures are completed.
What profile they are looking for: exact requirements pending from HR
The foundation is looking for trainers with digital skills and some teaching accreditation, although the precise requirements need to be confirmed by the HR department. ➡️ SPACE TO INSERT THE EXACT REQUIREMENTS FROM HR: [HERE ARE THE REQUIREMENTS HR WILL GIVE YOU].
A structure ready to be activated… provided there are teachers.
Cybervolunteers’ own internal planning contemplates courses from now until May of next year. “We have quite a few activities organized, and depending on the availability of the trainer, we propose some or others,” Tarraso explained. However, for this structure to work, the entity must first close the list of professionals who will teach the workshops in the municipalities of Ibiza. The digital divide in the elderly remains one of the most important challenges in Ibiza.
How to apply: the call for applications is still open
Anyone wishing to join the team can send their CV through the Work with us section on the foundation’s website. Human Resources will evaluate the candidate’s availability, area of residence and digital skills in order to assign him/her to the next courses.
The foundation recalls that it offers prior training, materials and coordination support: “The trainer only has to come to give it,” Tarraso explained during the conversation.
