Business and union representatives of the lifeguard sector in the Balearic Islands have signed this Wednesday in Palma the second autonomous collective agreement for aquatic surveillance and lifeguarding, which will regulate working conditions between January 1, 2026 and December 31, 2029, as reported by the Ministry of Labor, Public Function and Social Dialogue.
The agreement was signed at a meeting held at the Court of Arbitration and Mediation of the Balearic Islands (Tamib) and, according to the Government, is the result of the social dialogue held in recent months. The new regulatory framework aims to improve the working conditions of workers in the sector and to offer companies an environment of stability and legal certainty for the development of their activity.
On the business side, the agreement has been signed by the Asociación de Empresas de Salvamento y Socorrismo (Salvib) and the Associació Empresarial Balear de Socorrisme (AEBS), while on the union side it has been signed by CCOO, UGT and CGT, the majority organizations in the field of aquatic surveillance.
The negotiating table was formed in early September and since then numerous meetings have been held, with the active participation of the Directorate General of Labor, which has worked together with the concessionaires to facilitate consensus in a key sector for the safety of beaches and swimming pools in the archipelago, especially during the tourist season in the Balearic Islands.
